About Sandy Knoll Farm
A Multi-Generation Kansas Gelbvieh Operation
Sandy Knoll Farm was established in 1934 and has proudly remained in the Dunn family for four generations. What began as a grain, hay, pig, and commercial cattle operation evolved in 1982 with the introduction of Gelbvieh genetics—marking the transition to registered seedstock production and laying the foundation for what is now one of the nation’s leading Gelbvieh and Balancer programs.
Today, the operation is led by Leon and Brian Dunn, and they are starting to integrate the fourth generation: Preston, Ian, and Garrett, who continue to move the program forward while honoring the values it was built on.
Leon and Jan Dunn were inducted into the Gelbvieh Hall of Fame in 2024, recognizing decades of leadership and breed involvement. Brian has served on the American Gelbvieh Association Board of Directors and currently serves as President of the American Gelbvieh Foundation, while Preston has been actively involved in leadership through the American Gelbvieh Junior Association. Though the program has expanded over the years, the mission remains unchanged: raise cattle that stand the test of time and work for cattle producers.
